The 2026 college admissions season has come to a close, and unsurprisingly, Edgemont High School and Scarsdale High School have continued their tradition of sending graduates to the nation's most competitive and prestigious universities.
While college decisions in Edgemont and Scarsdale have followed relatively similar patterns each year, the Class of 2026 has shown interesting shifts in the popularity of certain colleges.
University of Michigan
New York University
Cornell University
Lehigh University
Boston University
Syracuse University
University of Texas - Austin
Emory University
Tulane University
University of Maryland - College Park
Unsurprisingly, the University of Michigan, NYU, and Cornell continued their domination of the decisions of Edgemont and Scarsdale seniors, with over two dozen students enrolling in each of these schools.
The popularity of schools like UT Austin and the University of Maryland suggests a growing interest among top students in large, highly-ranked state universities that offer research opportunities and strong connections.
The popularity of "party schools” such as Tulane, Lehigh, and Syracuse reflects the desire of students to have a vibrant social life, especially those coming from a small school like Edgemont.
This year’s list has also remained geographically diverse, with students enrolling in schools across 30 states and multiple countries.
As a member of the class of 2026, I've witnessed firsthand the dedication and hard work that goes into the college application process. I believe that every student should take pride in their accomplishments and be proud of the decision they made. The college you attend is just the beginning, and what matters most is what you do with your education.
To the rising seniors preparing to apply in the fall, make sure to take challenging courses, engage in meaningful activities, and write meaningful essays. I look forward to seeing what you accomplish. Good luck!
